The Four Dharmas of Gampopa – Thrangu Rinpoche

This is a classic Tibetan Buddhist text. Thrangu does a wonderful job unpacking and explaining the various implications and nuances of the four dharmas.

There is a PDF copy found on Thrangu Rinpoche’s website, here: http://www.rinpoche.com/teachings/4dharmas.pdf

Here are the four dharmas:

  1. Grant your blessing so that my mind may be one with the dharma
  2. Grant your blessing so that the dharma may go along the path
  3. Grant your blessing so that the dharma may clarify confusion
  4. Grant your blessings so that I may transform confusion into wisdom

Seems pretty straightforward, once you have some familiarity with the language! But Thrangu is excellent at placing these teachings within the greater Buddhist framework and discussing nuances, obstacles and other points of consideration related to this teaching. It’s a short read – only 45 pages, including a glossary and notes section. Definitely worth an hour or so to soak in the wisdom of one of the Kagyu’s greatest teachers.
