I’m lucky in that I recognized learning as a reliable has always been a source of great pleasure for me. It also represents great power – power to transcend and transform. Learning can be broken down into education, or study, and practice. It is important to strike a balance between the two; if you don’t study, your practice will stagnate, and if you don’t practice, your study is almost meaningless. It is the only way to advance our paradigm.
Our perspective informs our experience. Expanding our perspective can change our experience. We are both limited & enabled by what we’ve learned.
Our language and concepts act as frameworks which we use to structure our world. We can compare and contrast these frameworks, and put them together in novel ways, to further our understanding, and to more accurately map our frameworks to reality.
I find as I develop better understanding of the systems & dynamics associated with humanity, as I learn more about the world outside myself and see more of myself in the outside world, I have greater compassion and clarity of insight for what I see. It is so interesting, the many different ways we can slice and divide things in order to justify a myriad of positions. It turns out, our only long-term interest, and often our biggest problem, is learning how to best work with our self.
My background is in Religion and Culture & Philosophy, along with an MBA and CPA designation. I have filled a few notebooks here and there with musings and reflections, and have worked professionally in project management, recruitment and finance & accounting. The need for having a well-rounded character was instilled in me early, and I have always leaned towards the contemplative. I am well-versed in a number of different religious and spiritual traditions, and have practiced meditation and mindfulness for over 20 years.
My goal with this site is to compile a collection of resources that I have found personally helpful, in the hopes that they will also be helpful to you. I also will use this as a platform to explore various reflections on life and living – in short, one part storehouse of useful knowledge and things I have found influenced me in a positive way, and one part creative outlet.
