I am a huge fan of podcasts. The breadth of subjects, the depth they go to, getting to listen to people who have boiled down vast amounts of knowledge – all of this appeals to me. They used to be my go-to for commuting before my office switched to working from home at the start of 2020. There are few things that rival a good podcast. I particularly like history podcasts, where intelligent individuals have boiled down a number of different books and sources to tell a cohesive story of events, and podcasts that look at how and why we do things. Most of the history podcasts I listen to are monologues. Many of the others come in the form of dialogues – so much can be gained by listening to two very informed, intelligent people have a conversation with each other. Long-form podcasts are one of the more suitable mediums for nuance.
